Closed biogas unit will not be restored

According to The New Indian Express, a currently shut-down biogas plant in Ajith Singh Nagar, Punjab, will not be revived again. Reportedly, the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation has not received any bids from companies in a tender that was announced on 18 June with deadline on 9 July. Pune-based Mailhem Engineers Private Limited has built the 20 tpd biomethanation plant in 2004, but it was shut down due to technical reasons just after one year. It was producing methane gas from vegetable, horticulture and slaughterhouse wastes.
