According to Energy Infra Post, the installed biomass capacity in India grew from 4.95 GW in March 2016 to 8.4 GW at the end of 2017, so the country is likely to reach its target of 10 GW of installed biomass capacity by 2022 earlier than expected. Biomass accounts for a share of 13% in total renewable energy generation in India. Problems arise from the fluctuations in the availability of biomass feedstock. Agricultural biomass is exclusively available after the harvesting period, which only includes a period of 2 to 3 months each year.
