As previously reported, the operator of the Okhla WtE facility was served a notice in April 2019 due to several violations of the Environmental Clearance. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) will now carry out an ecological damage assessment on behalf of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC). The CPCB will then determine a remediation plan for the facility as well as a compensation for the inflicted ecological damage. According to the Times of India, the facility was incinerating 1,500 tpd of waste instead of the approved 750 tpd. Further violations include the construction of additional chimneys and boilers.
