IL&FS Energy Development Co. Ltd. (IEDCL) plans to sell its currently non-operational 13 MW biomass power plant in Shendra MIDC, Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

The Economic Times reports that IEDCL’s subsidiary, Shendra Green Energy Ltd (SGEL) has published a Request for Proposals (RfP), accepting bids from potential buyers until August 30, 2021.

As further reported, in December 2010, IEDCL had acquired 100% equity stake in GAPS from the former plant owner GMS Group. Back in October 2006, a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was signed between SGEL and the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd., lasting for 13 years. The biomass facility started commercial operations in December 2008.

Operations at the plant have been paused since June 2015, caused by operational constraints mainly due to issuses relating to feedstock collection and storage.
