Delay in the completion of Ranchi WtE plant

As the Daily Pioneer reported, the solid waste-to-energy project involving Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) and MSW-Essel Infrastructure (Essel Infra) has been left uncompleted. According to the Senior Manager of Essel Infra the financial constraints including the termination issue are the major causes of the project setback. The project was initiated on October 4, 2016 and was expected to be completed in November 2018. However, as a result of substandard performance, the company received a termination letter from the municipal corporation in October 2017. The 11.5MW waste-to-energy plant project is lying on a 12-acres area of land at Jhiri. The project cost is INR 2 billion (EUR 25,373,480).
