A new biogas plant has been commissioned in Yediyur ward, located in south Bengaluru, Karnataka. As stated by The Times of India, the plant will be processing 4.5 tpd of wet waste, producing 250 kW of electricity. The plant’s maximum capacity is said to be 5 tpd. It should serve a nearby clock tower, a badminton academy, five parks as well as a pedestrian walkway. According to the city major, Bengaluru will also provide INR 5 billion (EUR 63.36 million) to revamp 13 currently defunct biogas plants across the city.
