According to The Economic Times, some obstacles in the area of Goods and Services Tax have caused a delay in the commissioning of the MBT projects to be developed at the Jaipur and New Delhi railway stations. Construction work at the sites had started 2 years ago and machinery has been installed already. The projects involves segregation of biodegradable and non-degradable waste as well as waste-processing methods such as composting, vermi-composting; furthermore biomethanation for biodegradable waste and recycling of recyclable waste. The generated energy will be used at the railway stations. The projects are executed by a public sector company under the Railways, called RITES. The facility in Jaipur has a capacity of 5 tpd and the one in New Delhi of 10 tpd.
