Delhi submits status report on WtE and waste management to the NGT

Delhi government has recently submitted a status report to the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

As per the report, Delhi generated 11,332 tpd of MSW on an average. As further stated, there are currently four WtE plants operational in Delhi, at Okhla, Ghazipur, Tehkhand and Bawana. Moreover, new WtE projects were proposed at Narela-Bawana and Ghazipur, as well as a compressed biogas (CBG) plant at Ghogha Dairy. Furthermore, plans provide for a capacity increase at the existing WtE plant at Okhla by 1,000 tpd.

The source indicated a 38.5% gap in processing of MSW in Delhi and that a total of 11 waste processing and disposal facilities were currently being proposed.
