False claims about RDF unit at Okhla WtE plant

As stated by a lawyer representing local residents, the operator of the Okhla WtE plant in New Delhi has allegedly made false claims about the existence of RDF and biogas units at its site, The Times of India reports. An unnamed government agency was said to have informed India’s National Green tribunal (NGT) that no such units exist at the Okhla WtE site. The plant operator was accused of having made the claims to earn additional carbon credits. The Okhla facility was inaugurated in 2012 and has a treatment capacity of around 2,000 tpy of waste. However, a plant executive now said that the site has a non-RDF pre-segregation process making it eligible for the credits.
