The Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) says it has completed nearly 70 percent bioremediation of the legacy garbage dump of Sonsoddo.
Mr Levinson Martins, Managing director – GWMC, has said that all possible measures will be undertaken to try to complete the work before the monsoon in early June. He has said that approximately 90,000 cubic meters of the estimated 1.31 lakh cubic meters of the legacy waste at Sonsoddo have been remediated so far. The GWMC wants the cleared area to be made available for Margao municipality to set up any new solid waste management plant at the site, reports The Times of India.
