Goa to build C&D waste recycling plant

The State Government of Goa has announced plans for a C&D waste recycling plant and an RDF plant, both to be developed in PPP mode. The C&D plant is likely to be constructed in North Goa and the WtE plant should be located in South Goa. For the C&D plant, plans provide for using Irish technology with assistance by independent research organisation SINTEF Norway. As indicated in The Times of India, Goa produces around 500 tpd of C&D waste and the state is currently depending on neighbouring states for RDF co-incineration. As further stated in the source, the proposed RDF plant should generate electricity by processing RDF resulting from the remediation of legacy dumps.
