Indian recycling company Gravita India Ltd. wants to enter the electric vehicle (EV) battery recycling market and is currently in discussion with a European technology provider.
Gravita India Ltd. is mainly active in lead batteries recycling as well as plastics and aluminium recycling. Its goal is to increase the recycling of segments other than lead to about 25%. It operates plants in Jaipur, Gandhidham, Chittoor and Jammu, and is currently building a plant in Mundra, which is due to start operations by August 2021. The plant will have smelting and refining units for battery recycling, reports Moneycontrol.com.
Gravita also aims to enter copper and paper recycling, and to expand its plastic recycling. As part of this, it will soon start piloting a rubber recycling facility in Ghana.
