In a bid to make the residents of Gurugram aware of the importance of segregating dry, wet, and hazardous wastes at the source, the municipal corporation has come up with an innovative way of providing them with certificates for the same. The campaign, called Tri-Bin Selfies drive, requires residents to click a selfie with their three bins. The Green is for dry waste, Blue for wet, and yellow for hazardous wastes. The civic body wants to assert the significance of segregation at the sour for proper solid waste management in the city.
The Times of India reports that the participates need to upload their selfies on http://bit.ly/tribinggm. Everyone who participates will be given certificates by MCG and the 20 best selfies will even win rewards. MCG Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh told the daily that this is done to ensure that nothing other than inert waste gets dumped at the landfills.
