Husk Power Systems raises fund from Shell

Indian independent power producer Husk Power Systems announced that it had raised USD 20 million of equity funding from Shell Technology Ventures LLC, Swedish development finance institution Swedfund International, and French utility ENGIE’s impact investment fund. Husk Power Systems started operations with developing small-scale rice-husks-fired power plants for rural areas in India. Later it launched hybrid-powered mini-grid systems, combining solar, biomass and battery power. Currently, the company is operating 75 mini-grids in Asia and Africa, according to local news.
