India bans imports of plastic scraps

India’s decision to ban imports of scrap plastics keeps the plastic recycling market in suspense and will most probably lead to significant job losses in the Indian recycling industry as the president for waste plastics Surendra Patawari Borad stated. Since Mai 31st it has been officially prohibited to process plastic scrap imports in India. This means that the availability of plastic waste in Germany has significantly risen and has led to corresponding decreases in prices. Nonetheless it is expected that the European market will remain relatively stable as demand for plastic scraps persists to be consistent and resilient. This was reported by Recyclingmagazin.
