The Indian Ministry of Power has defined price benchmarks for biomass pellet prices. The price regulation is planned for one year, starting on 8 November 2023.

In the Northern Region, pellet prices amount to INR 2.27 (EUR 0.025) and in the Western Region to INR 2.24 (EUR 0.025) per 7,000 kcal. The moisture content of the pellets must be below 14% and the gross calorific value must amount to 2,800 to 4,000 kcal/kg.

According to the report, 35 co-fired biomass plants were active across India last year.
