Joint venture for India’s largest plastic recycling facility

Dutch chemical company LyondellBasell and Maharashtra-based plastic scrap recycler and waste collector Shakti Plastic Industries have signed an MoU to form a joint venture for a mechanical recycling plant in India.

The MoU provides for construction and operation of a fully-automated facility to process rigid packaging post-consumer waste.

The facility, which according to the report is expected to become the largest mechanical recycling plant in India, should be producing 50,000 tpy of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP). The plant should start working in late 2024.
