Tehkhand WtE plant inaugurated by Home Minister

The large-scale Tehkhand WtE project in South Delhi has been inaugurated by the Union Home Minister on 20 October 2022. The 2,000 tpd facility in the Delhi district of Tughlakabad is supposed to generate up to 25 MWe.

The project by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi entailed an investment of INR 3.75 billion (EUR 44.97 million) and was being implemented in a PPP model with the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC).

As further stated by the Minister, according to the source, another 3,000 tpd WtE plant is scheduled to come up in Narela by August 2024. This is contrary to previous information, according to which this new plant is expected to be completed by August 2025.
