The 1,000 tpd Kannahalli WtE project in Bengaluru, Karnataka has started its waste composting stage. Waste to Energy activities will follow shortly, according to the Bangalore Mirror.
Satarem Enterprises Private Limited (SEPL) has signed an MoU with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). Under this agreement, SEPL sells the power to be produced at the site to Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERK). The power will then be supplied to the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (KPTCL).
Back in 2011, the BBMP provided 20 acres for the Kannahalli facility on a 30-year lease contract. The project was facing opposition from residents and further obstacles had occurred ever since but the BBMP has stood firm in its plans to go ahead with WtE projects in the city, including Kannahalli.
