Plans have emerged for an MSW management also producing energy in Kurbathang, in Kargil District, Union Territory of Ladakh. The facility should produce energy, as well as provide recycling and composting.

As further stated in the source, a topographical and technical survey of the site has already been completed. The MSW plant will accept and process dry waste, wet waste, and mixed waste.

The Ladakh Commissioner-Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department has directed an unnamed consultant agency to complete works for the facility within 7 months. A time schedule or further details on the technologies to be applied are not mentioned in the report.
