Karnataka extends generic tariff for WtE projects

The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has recently extended the validity of the generic tariff set for municipal solid waste (MSW) projects in the state till 2020. According to Mercom India, a tariff of INR 7.08 per kWh was set by the commission in 2016 for all MSW-based power projects commissioned between September 19, 2016 to March 31, 2018. Bangalore Municipal Solid Waste Limited (BMSWL) put forth a petition to the commission based on its pending WtE projects. Consequently, an extension of the tariff was granted for projects that will be commissioned till March 3, 2020.
