Karnataka proposes 10 waste management parks

The state of Karnataka’s Department for Forests, Environment an Ecology was said to have developed a scheme to set up 10 integrated waste management centres throughout the state. As stated by The Times of India, each of these so-called 3R Environment Parks will contain a WtE unit, composting and biomethanisation units as well as recycling lines. The centres would be developed by the Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) and maintained by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB). No technical information on the WtE units were given. As said, Karnataka’s government will formally announce the plans soon.
