Kerala: plans for new slaughterhouse with AD plant proceed

Plans for building a new slaughterhouse in Kunnukuzhy, Kerala, are proceeding. This was reported by The Hindu. The new site should include a meat processing unit, an effluent treatment plant as well as a biogas unit. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) that was submitted by the local body has now been approved. Plans provide for a global tendering procedure that is expected to start soon. Reportedly, the state government will provide funds of Rs. 20 crore (EUR 2.80 million). The remaining share will be provided by the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporations’ plan fund. The Corporation will also be owner of the new facility.
