Kerala Pollution Control Board gives ultimatum on Brahmapuram plant

The Kerala State Pollution Control Board (PCB) has asked the Kochi Corporation to take immediate corrective action at the solid waste treatment plant at Brahmapuram or shut it down.

The local body’s continued apathy despite receiving notices from the regional office of the PCB seems to have prompted the PCB to take this step, reports The Times of India.

While considering the civic body’s application in 2016, the PCB had asked the corporation to complete a slew of measures, including setting up a leachate treatment plant, which have not been implemented. Meanwhile, the Kochi Corporation claims it is attempting to fix all the problems identified by the PCB.
