KKR acquires 60% share in REEL

In a deal valued at INR 3,630 crores, global investment firm KKR has acquired a 60% stake in city-based environment solutions provider, Ramky Enviro Engineers Limited (REEL). This is said to be the largest foreign investor action in India’s environmental service sector. According to The Times of India, the investment is part of KKR’s strategy to invest in businesses that contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. REEL is currently involved in commissioning a 20 MW WtE plant in Hyderabad.
