As reported by the New Indian Express, the Kochi Municipal Corporation (KMC) had to decide whether it will lease 20 acres of land to construction company, GJ Eco Power Private Ltd., for the planned WtE plant. KMC has now denied the lease. The development of the project has faced several obstacles so far, further delaying the construction of the plant. Neither officials nor the company have commented on how the project will proceed after the decision.
