After the Delhi Okhla WtE plant was found by India’s National Green Tribunal (NGT) to operate within legal requirements, local residents have now challenged the facility’s planning permission. According to the Indian Express, plant opponents are alleging that the facility was illegally built on green belt land and that the site’s lease documents would have only allowed to set up a composting plant. The plant operator is disputing the claims, stating that the plant’s site is not located on green belt land. The Okhla WtE plant was opened in 2011.
