Lohum to start its new battery recycling plant

India-based battery recycler Lohum Cleantech plans to build an EV battery recycling plant in the United Arab Emirates.

A joint venturee has been formed with the UAE Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure and the BEEAH Group to implement the project. The proposed plant is expected to recycle 3,000 tpy of lithium-ion batteries and convert 15 MWh of battery capacity into sustainable energy storage systems (ESS).

This is in line with the UAE Circular Economy Policy 2021-2031, the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, and the country’s COP28 commitments. No information was provided in the source on the investment cost or the exact location of the plant.
