After Chennai, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC) committee will now visit Gurugram to assess the city’s solid waste management model.

Last week, the committee headed by Ludhiana mayor Balkar Sandhu, was in Greater Chennai Corporation, as reported by SolidWasteIndia.com.

Upon its return from Chennai, the committee said that Chennai’s SWM model is different from that proposed for Ludhiana. The MC would like to deploy three different contractors for door-to-door waste collection, transportation, and waste processing at the dumpsite. Whereas, in Chennai, only one contractor has been deployed for all services.

The MC has said it will study different models of waste management before finalising the pattern for the city and then release a tender, reports Hindustan Times.
