Steel services company Mahindra Intertrade will partner with state-controlled MSTC Ltd. on building an automobile shredding and recycling plant in India. Mahindra has not disclosed the exact investment costs but it was said that the equipment alone would cost about IND 1 billion (USD 15 million). The company furthermore said to estimate that the plant size would have to have a capacity of at least 100,000 tons per year for being economically viable. Operations at the new facility are to start within a year. The source, Reuters, does not say anything about the exact location of the project.
