Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has announced the tariff for purchasing energy from the proposed 750 tpd WtE facility in Pune, Maharashtra. The revised tariff is INR 7.45 (EUR 0.085)/kWh, reports Mercom India.

This, as further reported, is contrary to an earlier tariff decision by MERC providing INR 6.95 (EUR 0.079)/kWh. The project developer, integrated waste management entity Pune Bioenergy Systems, submitted a petition to the state Commission, seeking a revision of certain rulings to find a new feed-in-tariff.

According to May 2017 information, the facility should produce electricity (13 MW), compost and RDF. Back then, the civic body, Pune Municipal Corporation, had hoped to begin the project within the next 22 to 24 months.
