Agricultural cooperative NAFED has laid the foundation stone of a municipal solid waste (MSW) processing plant of 350 tpd capacity in Jammu.

Expected to cost Rs 80 crore, the project is expected to be completed within two years. NAFED will reportedly establish a scientific system for waste segregation, processing, effluent disposal, emissions, and bio-degradable waste as per J&K Pollution Control Board rules. The plant is expected to reduce issues related to the unscientific disposal of municipal solid waste in Jammu city.
