Ministry orders restart of defunct Bandwhari RDF plant

The Ministry for Urban Development (MUD) has told the state of Haryana to restart the operations of the Bandwhari waste treatment plant near Guragon, as reported by The Times of India. The facility, which includes an RDF and a composting unit, has been defunct for around 3 years because of a fire incident. Significant volumes of untreated waste still stored at the site were said to be leachating, endangering groundwater quality. Currently, local waste is disposed unsegregated at a local landfill.
