Fire incident at Kannahalli RDF plant

A fire incident occurred at the Kannahalli RDF facility, owned by public body Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), as reported by The Hindu. As said, a shredder and baling units as well as an RDF storage shed were damaged during the fire. The incident is estimated to have caused losses of around 95 million (USD 1.4 million). It is suspected that build-ups of methane in stocked RDF have caused the fire. BBMP announced to terminate the contract with the current plant operator.
