Ministry reports on RES capacity increase in 2023/24

According to the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, 18.48 GWel of RES capacity was installed during FY 2023-24. This is an increase of 21% compared to the previous year.

9.43 GW of the newly installed capacity are biomass CHP plants. India has an RES target of 500 GW by 2030, for which an annual increase of 50 GW is required.
