MNRE approves support for biogas

According to Mercom India, the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has approved a program for the promotion of waste recovery called “Energy from Urban, Industrial and Agricultural Waste/Residue”. The MNRE will provide Central Financial Assistance (CFA) for biogas production from industrial waste, sewage treatment plants, urban and agricultural waste through biomethanation from 2017/18 to 2019/20. Projects will be supported with a maximum of INR 100 million (EUR 1.25 million), calculated on basis of installed capacity. The total CFA budget for bioenergy projects is INR 780 million (EUR 9.78 million).
