According to the commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCoGM), Maharashtra, the corporation is currently reviewing the Deonar WtE project due to a lack of bidders for the initial tender. He believes the project attracted no bidders because it was required to process over 3,000 tons of waste. The MCoGM has now settled to invite new internationally competitive bids for the conversion of 750 tpd in a first unit. The project to be awarded by May 2018 will be on a design, build, own and maintain (DBOM) basis with no public-private partnership. As was reported by The Financial Express, he other 3 units will be tendered depending on the success of the first unit bidding process. About 10-12 MW of power is expected to be generated by each of the 750 tpd units with investments of around INR 750-800 crore (EUR 98-105 million).
