Nagpur is currently facing challenges in garbage collection as new contractors take charge

The collection of garbage from homes and streets remains affected after the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) appointed two new operators to replace its earlier contractor, Kanak Resources Management Limited (KRML).

The Times of India reported that 1,995 metric tonnes (MT) of garbage remained uncollected for the last two days and the city roads remained littered. The NMC claims that the two new operators AG Enviro Infra Projects Private Ltd and BVG India could transport only one-fifth of the waste generated by the city to Bhandewadi dumping yard.

Authorities expect that the situation will be contained over the next few days as the new contractors settle in.
