A new MRF could be coming to North Goa’s Igorjevaddo in Neura panchayat. Local residents have been opposed to the project, claiming the location is unsuitable and could cause problems in the future.

The proposed plant will sort dry waste, according to a member of the Village Development Committee.

Neura panchayat has already carried out a study on the proposed 500 sqm site, a land parcel that was being offered by the local “comunidade”.

The high court of Bombay at Goa had pulled up the Neura panchayat and a few others for neglect in setting up MRF units in their jurisdiction as required under various legislations and rules. The division bench had ordered on September 28 that these panchayats will not be permitted to issue any construction licences, reports The Times of India.
