New bio-mining facility at Dhapa, West Bengal

The West Bengal state government is coming up with bio-mining facilities at Dhapa to reduce the piling of waste at the landfill site.

The Millennium Post reported that State Urban Development and Municipal Affairs minister Firhad Hakim has announced that gradually the government will come up with a factory adjacent to the landfill site at Dhapa where the waste will be segregated into organic and inorganic substances. The organic waste will be turned into compost for soil conditioner in agricultural activities, while the inorganic material (plastics, rubber, cloth, leather, wood and glass items) will be used by the cement industry.
