New RDF production plant commissioned in Varanasi

A new waste management plant has become operational in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

It processes about 600,000 tpy of agricultural residue and MSW through torrefaction, producing coal. The project is a cooperation of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and the Municipal Corporation of Varanasi. The coal is to be used by the NTPC for power generation.
