New tender for Dadumajra MSW plant project

Waste collection truck in Ahmedabad, Gujarat (For representational purpose)

The City of Chandigarh has issued a new short-term tender for the MSW treatment plant at the Dadumajra (or Dadu Majra) landfill.

This is reportedly due to the failure of three companies to qualify for the technical tender for the construction of the plant. According to the source, the tender was set to be launched on 9 February 2024 and covers construction, operation, and maintenance for 17 years.

The plant should process 550 tpd of dry and wet waste. Wet waste is to be processed into biomethane and compressed natural gas and dry waste is to be converted into RDF.

According to earlier information, once a contractor is found, the plant is to be set up within 2 years.
