New waste sorting for Chandigarh

A few months after Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (CMC) had terminated its contract with the Jaypee Group, the operator of the local RDF plant, the firm nevertheless seems to be involved in a new WtE project in Chandigarh. According to the Indian Express, the CMC is going to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jaypee Group for the construction of a new waste segregation unit. The waste segregation machine will be built onto the local dumping ground, where it would handle around 300tpd of waste. At the moment, the dump site receives around 450tpd of municipal waste, as the local WtE plant is shut down due to renovation works. Under the agreement, a new compost plant might also be built by the Jaypee Group. The MoU is going to be signed in a hearing on July 24th, 2017.
