The National Green Tribunal (NGT) along with all civic and land agencies of Delhi have met on 3 February to decide on the Ghazipur landfill in New Delhi, as the New Indian Express reported. An official in the meeting hinted that a 95 acre site in Sultanpur Dabas would be used as an Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF). The facility will include a garbage dump, a Waste-to-Energy plant and plants for the treatment of solid and liquid waste. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has started plans regarding transfer of land site in Sultanpur to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Furthermore, the conversion of an unused NTPC thermal power plant to an engineered landfill site was discussed during the meeting. The agencies are yet to reach a consensus on establishing a new landfill.
