The National Green Tribunal’s (NGT) monitoring committee has asked the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district administration in Punjab to set timeframes for the completion of solid waste management projects, sewage treatment facilities, and other projects.

The team met with top officials from the district government, and heads of the Punjab Pollution Control Board and other major departments, according to an official announcement.

Officials will have to set a timeframe for each component of the projects, including the development of a complete project report, tendering, the date of execution, and completion, and the committee will visit the sites on a regular basis to monitor progress.

The committee also requested that officials ensure that green belts and boundary walls are built around the district’s solid waste disposal sites and CCTV cameras must be placed.
