The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has stated that remedial action needs to be taken by the Solan Municipal Council and sought an action taken report with all the details, including legacy waste cleared, biomined, quantity of compost produced, and its utilization within two months. The Tribunal stated that leachate management should be addressed soon, reports The Times of India.

The deputy commissioner, state pollution control board, and director, urban development, Himachal Pradesh have been asked to oversee the action. The matter will be heard in February 2021.

In earlier reports, the Tribunal was informed that the Solan Municipal Council processing-cum-disposal facility is not operational in line with procedure specified in the Solid Waste Management (Rules), 2016.
