NITI Aayog team to visit Pirana WtE project

Waste at Ahmedabad’s massive Pirana landfill is being cleared through biomining

On Tuesday, a NITI Aayog team will tour the Pirana Biomining project’s waste-to-energy plant in Ahmedabad.

The officials will visit to the Abellon Clean Energy Ltd plant, escorted by representatives from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s solid waste management department reports Hindustan Times.

The plant, which can generate 14.9MW of electricity using refuse-derived fuel pellets as fuel, is ready to go, but it has yet to begin operations. The AMC is in the process of resolving certain issues with the plant.

As reported earlier on SolidWasteIndia, the AMC has issued a request for proposals to build a new waste-to-energy facility with a capacity of 3,000 tonnes of garbage per day.
