The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has initiated an on-the-spot challan system for anyone caught dumping waste illegally.

GNIDA has tied up with HDFC Bank and fines will be levied on-the-spot through Point of Sale (POS) machines. The challan slip will be handed to any offender immediately, unlike earlier when it was done manually and had to be updated in the authority’s records.

This is one of the first attempts by a ULB in India to collect fines for SWM Rule violations, using a POS machine.
