Indian state-owned power utility NTPC is testing co-firing of biomass and coal at the Tanda thermal plant in Uttar Pradesh and at the Dadri plant.

According to NTPC, larger use of biomass is possible with no significant modifications of the existing plants. This action is part of India’s recent policy for co-firing biomass, aiming to reduce the use of coal and to cut carbon emissions.
