Pilot project could produce biogas from stray cattle manure

The government of the federal state of Himachal Pradesh is investigating plans for rehabilitating its around 32,000 stray cows for biogas production, as The Times of India reported. For doing so, the Panchayati Raj and rural development department has already asked an unnamed company to begin works on a pilot project at Thanakalan, Una district. Reportedly, if this project proved successful, it would be implemented in other parts of the state. As further reported, the government aims to ensure proper rehabilitation by building cowsheds.
